Option 2: Create a $0 price and process one transaction with all comp tickets and distribute by paper.
Recommended when:
- Large number of comp tickets distributed
- Comps are for a specific date/time
- Can print and distribute paper tickets manually.
Pros | Cons |
Fast because you are placing just one order and distributing by hand. | As tickets are not attached to a specific individual, you can’t search nor release a specific ticket. |
Do not need to have email or phone number of comp recipients. | Tickets are for a specific event and date/time (no flexibility on when comps are used). |
Tickets must be printed and distributed by hand. |
Complimentary tickets (also known as $0 Face Value Tickets) allow you to issue free tickets to patrons. To issue complimentary tickets, you must first make sure that you have created a complimentary ticket price.
In the pricing pane when editing your event, add a $0 Complimentary price as shown below.
As with all pricing for your event, please make sure to click either the Global Custom Pricing Change button (shown above) or the Customize Pricing button for each individual performance to set availability. To ensure patrons cannot access this complimentary price, make sure to set it to be Box Office Only, and save your changes.
To issue complimentary tickets, from your Box Office page click the Buy Tickets, Purchase or Rent Video button (depending on your event type). Click on the preferred date. For General Admission or Streaming events, select the total number of complimentary tickets you wish to issue for your entire company (you can always come back and issue more) for that date from the Complimentary price dropdown, and click Checkout to add them to your cart. For Reserved Seating events, select the seats you wish to issue and select the Complimentary price from the pop-up. Click the Checkout button in the Cart after all seats have been added.
If the order total is $0, select Cash from the Payment Method dropdown list. If the total is greater than $0 (if patron is purchasing additional tickets), select the patron's payment method (Cash, Check or Credit Card).
We recommend saving the order under your name for easy searching in the future. If you wish to checkout without capturing your information, simply click the Checkout button in the lower right.
Download or print the tickets and distribute manually. Please note if you use the Ticket Sharing option at the end of the purchase process, the tickets won't be sent until the day before the event.
