We offer 3 types of streaming for your event or content.
If you have licensing associated with your event, you'll want to make sure that you confirm what type of streaming your contract allows for you to use.
- Live Stream: a live, real time event being broadcast out to your patrons.
- Scheduled Content: pre-recorded event that plays at a specific date/time
- Video on Demand: pre-recorded on Demand Event.
1. LIVE STREAM (LS)
- This is a live event that you are streaming from a facility/venue or a live virtual event (Zoom, Streamyard, etc). This has specific event performance date/times.
- A live stream is NOT a show you have pre-recorded.
- You will receive RTMP credentials for your event to enter into your favorite Live Stream application.
- Patrons will not be able to pause or rewind or jump ahead.
- Live chat is available for you to engage with your patrons.
2. SCHEDULED CONTENT (SC)
- This is a recording of your event that ShowTix4U will automatically live stream on the specific day(s) and time(s) you set. Your patrons watch it together at the same time.
- You can upload your video file using any of permitted video formats and the video will need to be received IN FULL within 4 hours of your stream.
- Patrons can not pause or rewind and can only watch it in real time. When the stream ends, so does their access.
- Live chat is available for you to engage with your patrons.
3. VIDEO ON DEMAND (VOD)
- This is a recording of your event that ShowTix4U will stream to your patrons “on-demand.”
- You can set sales and video availability dates/times independently.
- You can upload your video file using any of permitted video formats and the video will need to be received IN FULL within 2 hours of your VIDEO AVAILABILITY START.
- Patrons will have access to your content for 48 hours from the time they successfully start watching the content, but may be shorter based on your VIDEO AVAILABILITY DATES.
- The 48 hour rental period is a business rule of the platform and can't be adjusted. Research in the larger on-demand market and the desire of patrons to have flexibility in on-demand viewing has helped to shape this streaming option.
- If you are looking to stream for just one day, you may want to consider streaming as Scheduled Content.
- If you would like to offer less than 48 hours to view your event and stay on Video On Demand, we recommend contacting your patrons and letting them know that the video will only be available for 24 hours from X time to X time and not the 48 hours mentioned on the platform. We also recommend including this in your event title (24 HOURS ONLY), as well as notated in your description.
This chart illustrates the primary differences between each event type.

Can I use more than one event type?
You can use these event types on their own or you can use multiple event types.
- For instance, you may have a live stream for your event on opening weekend, record it, edit the video, and upload it the following weekend for block of scheduled content. Please make sure you consult your streaming license contract, if applicable, to ensure your event types are in line with your contract.
- Perhaps you want to offer scheduled content for opening night and market your opening night date/time and then offer a separate video on demand event for the weekend.
- You can even create an in person event and pair it with a streaming event!
